Supermassive Black Holes

Supermassive Black Holes

At the center of almost every big galaxy lives a monster - a supermassive black hole! These giants are millions or even billions of times heavier than our Sun.

Our own Milky Way galaxy has a supermassive black hole right at its center called Sagittarius A*. It's like the galaxy's invisible anchor that helps hold all the stars together.

These cosmic giants are so massive that they can control entire galaxies! Stars orbit around them like planets orbit around the Sun, but on a much, much bigger scale.

💡

Fun Fact!

The supermassive black hole in our galaxy weighs as much as 4 million Suns put together!
